New Look

Aaaand.... publish.

Finally my site starts to look slick. Over the last couple of days I've learned a fair bit more about layouts and CSS, mostly through trial and error. It's as good a method as any to learn. I know that table-less HTML pages are oh-so in vogue, and I think that it's pretty cool what you can do, but there's always a place for a TABLE tag in my book for arranging data or even a quick bound to control a text region. So I ended up using a mixture of both.

It was a bit of a challenge as I was both rusty on basic HTML and all I had to work from was the .psd file Kim gave to me. She's the fucking master at taking an image file and whipping up an HTML template from it but this was my first go. I was a bit daunted but once the pieces start slotting into place I began to get the idea. In addition I stumbled upon a couple of excellent resources online that gave some practical examples. It was a jigsaw puzzle to try and get the HTML to look identical to the photoshop file. I don't think I did too badly and am very pleased with the result.

I love the darker look it gives to my site. This is more fitting for winter, and the colours Kim came up with are very unique. My progress was initially slow, but it all began to click for me this morning when it suddenly was second nature how to effectively leverage the blogger tags working with the CSS layout. It's not rocket science, but it is very pleasing.

So, dear reader; welcome to our new look!
A bit darker, a bit colder, but same old spit.

Holy shit! New Look! I like it. But it needs flowers. Tulips, dark blue ones.
