A win is a win

What a great time I had on Saturday - the first full day of the World Cup, and the England match was being shown in glorious shiny high def. I think the photos pretty much speak for themselves. A slap-up English breakfast, drunk as lords before the game even started at 9am, and a slipperly alcoholic slope down through the next two games until falling dead asleep middle of the afternoon.

Celebrated Englands victory with cigars in the middle of the courtyard and though it was neither thrilling nor inspiring, it was 3 points and that's all you can ask from the first game. The referee was clearly a wanker, although he did have the shiniest hair known to humanity. That was cool.

Crouch played well but was completely nerfed by the ref. Joe Cole had a few good runs and moments of class. Becks was becks, Owen was naff, Lampard had a few good cracks. Overall, it was ok and I'm sure we will build as the tournament goes on. Here's hoping for a few massive thunderstorms though :)

On to the next! Trinidad & Tobago did fantastically well to hold Sweden to 0:0, let's see how they fare against a (hopefully) revitalised England side on Thursday. Plenty more scouting to be done on the other matches before then though. I love getting up early, getting the workout or outside activities done, and then settling down to a supremely smug 6 hours of football safe in the knowledge I am not a potato.

Only thing is this leaves little time for gaming with my friends, which I miss a fair bit. Not really many superb multiplayer choices for the xbox right now though - summer always seems to take a bit of a hit when it comes to the release calendar. No matter! It's sunny, and I'm finally losing my white boy pale skinned ickiness.

Is that bangers and mashers or am I too into the cooking of that green isle to the west?

It's a full English breakfast, laddie. Bangers and mash isn't for breakfast!

Wait til the Sweden match mate.

Neither side particularly want to win and end up in the same half of the draw as Brazil (apparently), so they could both be playing to lose...
